Our Travel Photography Gear: Cameras, Lenses, and Accessories
In this article we share the camera gear we use and love, and explain how each piece helps us capture our favorite travel moments in the best way possible. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to upgrade your setup, you’ll get a clear look at what works for us on the road.
When we travel, our gear is just as important as our passports. Over time we’ve figured out what really makes a difference, from the cameras and lenses we use every single day to extras like drones, filters, and tripods that add variety to our shots. Each piece has its role — whether it’s catching wide landscapes, close-up details, or smooth video footage. Having the right equipment means we can bring home photos that look and feel like the real moment, helping us tell our travel stories in a way that’s true to what we experienced.
OUR CAMERAS & LENSES
Nikon Z50 & Nikkor DZ 16–50mm Lens
We love this camera kit because it’s compact, lightweight, and perfect for traveling. It’s also a great choice for anyone starting out with photography, offering quality results without feeling overwhelming. We own the previous Nikon Z50 model, and while it has served us well and still delivers great photos, the new Z50 II comes with upgrades that make it an even better choice. If we were buying today, we’d go for the newer version without hesitation.
Pros:
- Compact and lightweight for a mirrorless camera, perfect for travel.
- 16–50mm lens is versatile for landscapes and street photography and is so light!
- Great image quality with good low-light performance.
Cons:
- Not the best low-light performance.
- No in-body stabilization, so handheld low-light shots can be tricky and capturing videos is impossible without a tripod.

Camera Cleaning Kit
The camera cleaning kit is one of those small but essential items we never travel without. Dust, fingerprints, or smudges can ruin a perfect shot, and having a lightweight cleaning kit means we can keep our lenses crystal clear wherever we are. It takes up almost no space in our bag, but it’s a lifesaver when shooting in dusty markets, on sandy beaches, or after a long day outdoors.

Camera Bag
Our camera bag is waterproof and has multiple compartments, which makes storing and finding gear so much easier on the go. It protects our equipment from sudden rain showers, bumps, and scratches, while keeping everything organized — from lenses to batteries to memory cards. Having a reliable bag means we can focus on capturing moments without worrying about our gear’s safety.
